Want early access to my debut novel?
And a quick update so far.
Hi!
It’s been a while since I wandered over to Substack to say hi to folks — and there’s so many new faces! (Hello!!! Thank you for joining me!) I wanted to give you a quick update on what’s been going on since I last sent my email in July, and also give you some exciting news at the end. (Scroll down past the break if you just want to get to the Good Stuff.)
It’s been a bit of a hectic year. As some of you might know, in July, I moved away from the city I’ve called home for 12 years. What followed was some kind of wild (said lovingly, pls don’t cancel me, whoever’s writing this TV season of my life) plot rollercoaster that I think was probably meant to make me a stronger main character:
Trying to readjust to a new home and a new city while also simultaneously mourning some personal griefs, including the grief of leaving a place you love. (Who is ever entirely ready to leave somewhere—or someone— they love??)
Several creative project deadlines came back from the dead and all collided at once, resulting in me being glued to my computer from July to October. I’m hopeful that I’ll get to share some of these at some point!
Making new writer friends and filling my well with gratitude that I get to be on this wild debut journey. (Hey, are you a writer? Let’s be friends!!! Are you not a writer?? Let’s be friends anyway!!!)
Freelancing was a really new thing for me this year and it has been more wildly successful than I ever dreamed. I am tired, but also delighted, and it’s brought me such incredible joy to help folks achieve their dreams and take their passions to the next level.
TLDR: This second half of the year has been all about sowing seeds, and I am really excited to see how those seeds grow.
I’m working on my next installment of my newsletter (per usual I am excavating the statue from the marble or whatever Michelangelo said), so hopefully you’ll have that before 65 more years pass us by. BUT. In the meantime, I wanted to deliver some exciting news:
PRODIGAL TIGER IS NOW AVAILABLE TO REQUEST ON NETGALLEY AND EDELWEISS.
That’s right—for the low, low price of $free.99, you can apply to request early ARCs (advance reader copies) of PRODIGAL TIGER on NetGalley and Edelweiss! I am thrilled that Caroline and her little gang will be making their way into readers’ hands soon—even sooner if you’re approved for an ARC.
If you can’t apply for an ARC (understandable), you can always add the book to Goodreads or pre-order the book early here—it’s like a gift to yourself come mid-March when it shows up at your door ♥️ As a reminder, preorders really help authors, because it signals to publishers interest in these books and the worlds that those books represent. Debut authors, in particular, appreciate preorders as those preorders make up the first week of sales, pushing us closer to those elusive bestseller lists and helping us get our footing with our first book! (And if you’ve already pre-ordered, thank you for helping me take one step closer to my dream. ♥️)
More to come soon, I hope! In the meantime, I hope your weekend is a wonderful one—please do let me know what you’re up to!
Love,
Sam
